Rescheduled Field Day - Garden Design for Bushfire Resistance
Time & Location
About the Event
Have you ever wondered how to reduce the bushfire risk on your property?
Our topic (originally in July) is Garden Design for Bushfire Resistance.
We head to a 45 acre farm at Duns Creek that is home to Adriana Rios and family. Surrounded by mountains and natural bushland, the farm was threatened by bushfire last year.
There we will be joined by three local experts:
* Alex Wilson from Lake Macquarie Landcare will speak about selecting fire resistant native plants
* Michael Mathers from the Martins Creek RFS Brigade will discuss property preparation, safety and maintenance
* Lachlan Storrie from Treefrog Permaculture will take us through designing a property to give the best chance of surviving a bushfire
Whether you live in an urban or rural area, this day is designed to help you plan ahead, be prepared and work with nature to minimise your bushfire risk.
