Feedback Farms

Sunday 22nd May 2022

Kurri Kurri

A team of young farmers (Matthew, Lauren, James and Max) previously running a market garden at Cardiff Heights under the name ‘Feedback Organic Recovery’ have made a big move to Kurri Kurri and are continuing their wonderful work as ‘Feedback Farms’.

The Feedback Farms Team moved to their current property (a 14 acre bushland block) in August 2021. They gradually build the garden beds using naturally available materials along with the compost sourced from the former Feedback Organic Recovery. Lots of eucalyptus woodchips are being mulched along the beds.

You will learn on how they created a habitat for wild animals amidst the market garden, showcasing that human activity and nature can co-exist and work wonders mutually. A frog pond and an in situ compost bed are highlights of their work, which may interest you.

Apart from Feedback Farms, Balaji and Hari (HOGS members) are taking care of lots of birds – chickens, ducks, turkeys and lovely geese), which may interest you. The team feeds the birds with vegetable scraps and the birds feeds back to the system with their nutrients. In addition to enjoying a tour of Feedback Farms, Hari will be organising a lunch (unique South Indian style).

Join us for the opportunity to find out what this exciting bunch of people wanted to share with us.
