Time & Location

Saturday 25 November, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm Patterson NSW

About the Event Will and Anthea Power have owned the property since 2018.

We chose the property because of the views and proximity to the village.

The property was a drought-stricken overgrazed horse paddock when we arrived.

Set on two hillside acres on the edge of Paterson, Maplewood Permaculture farm is in the early stages of establishment as a permaculture principled farm. We prefer slow and human-scale methods, hand tools, and a focus on soil health. We have vegetable gardens and orchard areas established, and a long to-do list!. Our approach is no-dig/low-till. We are also off-grid.

Schedule 10:00 Morning tea

10:30 Farm tour with Will and Anthea

12:30-3:00 Shared lunch and HOGS Christmas Party (Feel free to leave earlier) Please Bring Morning tea to share if you wish.

This field day will be our Christmas celebration so we would love if members can join us for a shared lunch. Please bring something to share for lunch on the day.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

We acknowledge the tradition custodians of the lands of the Hunter region, the Awabakal, Worimi and Wonnarua peoples. We pay our respects to their elders past and present.

We acknowledge their deep contributions to sustainable agriculture and land stewardship. They were our first farmers and caretakers of country - the soils, rivers and seas.

We are gardeners, farmers, and first time producers of our own backyard fodder, who meet monthly to learn about living and growing sustainably in the Hunter Valley and surrounds.
