Date: Saturday 10th  October ,2026

Time: 10.00AM – 2:00PM

Location:  Yarrawa Hall - on Ferndale Road, Yarrawa NSW 2328, Australia

Join us for a fascinating and hands-on day with well-known herbalist Pat Collins, as we learn about useful weeds and make our own Wild Weed Ointment.

Pat heads up the Total Health and Education Centre in Muswellbrook and has a wealth of knowledge about herbs, weeds and their many uses. She has developed her own established range of herbal products and has written eight books filled with information about weeds, recipes and practical tips.

During our visit, Pat will take us on a weed walk and talk, sharing her knowledge of the numerous weeds growing around us and explaining some of their traditional and practical uses. We’ll then lend a hand with a garden blitz, helping Pat weed and mulch her garden.

After our shared lunch, Pat will guide us through making Wild Weed Ointment. Everyone will have the opportunity to take home a small batch of the ointment we make on the day.

It promises to be a wonderfully educational, practical and enjoyable day — and there is no cost for HOGS members.

Program for the Day

10:00 am – Arrive, followed by a weed walk and talk with Pat

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

We acknowledge the tradition custodians of the lands of the Hunter region, the Awabakal, Worimi and Wonnarua peoples. We pay our respects to their elders past and present.

We acknowledge their deep contributions to sustainable agriculture and land stewardship. They were our first farmers and caretakers of country - the soils, rivers and seas.

We are gardeners, farmers, and first time producers of our own backyard fodder, who meet monthly to learn about living and growing sustainably in the Hunter Valley and surrounds.
